February Half-term fun in Cambridgeshire

Inside: All of the February Half-term activities happening in Cambridgeshire.

It is starting to feel more spring-like and that means February half-term is around the corner. If you haven’t made any plans yet, there are lots of fun events happening in Cambridgeshire to get you and the kids out of the house.

This post lists half-term specific events, but of course there are the usual family fun days out in Cambridgeshire to check out too.

February half term cambridgeshire

February half term varies around the country, with some counties taking it 12th – 16th February and others 19th – 23rd February. Hopefully you will find an activity to suit you.

Please be sure to check the organiser website for the most up to date details in case of any cancellations due to weather or any other unforeseen circumstances.

Sacrewell Farm

Dates: 10th – 25th February 2024.

Throughout February half term Sacrewell Farm will be hosting daily animal talks and a self-led animal trail where you can explore our 50 acres and get to know all their animals.

And of course, the usual fun of the farm with the animals, the play park, sensory garden and more!

Minibeasts at Milton Country Park

Dates: Sunday 25th February

Wild Science are bringing their minibeasts to the Grounds Roastery for this free event at Milton Country Park. With no or millions of legs, learn about these fascinating creatures and their place in the environment.

Fun at Nene Park

Dates: 17th – 25th February 2024.

There are lots of family-friendly events running at Nene Park this half term including 30% off Pay & Play Watersports with code FEBHALFTERM.

Check out their website for details of when each individual activity is running as they vary day to day.

Activities include:

  • Pick up a tree folklore trail sheet from the Visitor Centre for £1 between 9am and 3pm, answer the questions and claim your flower seeds prize.
  • Build your very own bird box to attract our feathered-friends to your garden.
  • Try your hand at archery.
  • Track the creatures that live in Ferry Meadows and create your own plaster track to take home.
  • Plus lots more!

Cambridge Botanical Garden

There are two events happening at the Cambridge Botanical Garden that kids will love.

Crazy Cone Caper

Dates: 11th January – 24th March 2024

Take part in a whodunit mystery to track down who’s been stealing seeds from pinecones. Simply pick up a free Crazy Cone Caper trail on your way into the Garden and start investigating.

Snowdrop Trail

Dates: 15th January – 1st March 2024

Pick up a free Snowdrop Trail guide to discover ‘hot spot walking routes’ and discover more about snowdrop science, history, folklore and cultivation from information panels in these areas.

The Polar Museum

Dates: 17th – 24th February 2024.

Head down to the Polar Museum to try out their pop-up activity station bursting with different activities boxes, puzzles and books.

Go Wild at Flag Fen

Dates: 22nd – 25th February 2024

If you enjoy exploring the great outdoors then head on down to Flag Fen for some fantastic fun. Activities vary day to day so check out the website for more details.

  • Dragons & mythical creatures
  • Pirates
  • Superheroes

I Spy in the Sky at Duxford

Dates: Every Weekend until 25 February 2024. Daily throughout February half-term.

Take on the role of a Photo Interpreter at Duxford to find out what it takes to take secret photos from up high in the sky. Take part in exciting missions and explore how light and reflection make a camera work before designing and building your own pinhole viewer.

I Spy In The Sky is a drop-in activity recommended for children aged 5-12.

Wildlife Week at Skylark

Dates: 19th – 23rd February 2024

Build a nest box or bug hotel, do some bird spotting, make an animal face mask and go on a scavenger hunt – lots of fun to be had at Skylark Garden Centre this half term.

Thomas Specials at Nene Valley Railway

Dates: 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th February 2024.

Travel behind Thomas the Tank on his Branch Line to Yarwell and back, grab your goodie bag, and meet the driver and fireman on this very special train journey on the Nene Valley Railway.
